Mission Grant Bulletin Bytes

The LWML CID is overjoyed to announce our mission goal for 2020-2021 of $105,000 with $78,750 for district grants and the remaining funds to national mission grants. As funds become available throughout the year, the mission grants will be paid in full in the following order (as voted upon at the LWML CID convention in April 2020).   8. Train Up a Child Teen Camp in Alaska – $5,750August 2020 LWML CID Mission Grant #1 – Student Aid for Church Workers – $30,000
    Due to the high cost of becoming a full-time church worker, many students find it difficult to complete their schooling. This grant will provide partial funding to CID students so they may realize their dreams of becoming full-time church workers. These funds would be distributed through the LCMS CID Scholarship Committee.
    How can I help? Pray that God provides men and women willing to become church workers to spread the Gospel message throughout the world. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    September 2020 LWML CID Mission Grant #2 – Operation Mercy for Veterans in Danville – $10,000
    The purpose of Operation Mercy is to show God’s mercy to our Veterans by feeding their bodies, caring for their souls, and creating a community of fellow citizens and Christian believers at Cannon Place and the Danville Senior Apartments. This grant would help purchase food for the on-site food pantry and holiday meals and continue the worship services, Bible studies and Sunday school for veterans and their families.
    How can I help? Pray that God provides the Danville veterans with the love of God and a sense of community through this grant. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    October 2020 LWML CID Mission Grant #3 – Food for the Children program in Danville – $10,000
    The “Food for the Children” program supplies food on the weekends for students identified by school social workers, who have no or little food during that time. All funds would be used for the purchase of food for the weekend bags. Jesus is introduced to the students through pencils, prayer placemats, bookmarks, and Christian mementos.
    How can I help? Pray that God uses the “Food for the Children” program to bring these children and their families into His kingdom. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    November 2020 LWML CID Mission Grant #4 – Large Print Bibles & Devotions in Effingham – $10,000
    The St. John’s Lutheran Braille Center in Effingham will print 7 books of the Bible, 500 devotional booklets for each month of the year, and 80 copies of Luther’s Small Catechism in Spanish. The grant would provide funds for paper, boxes, envelopes, and ink.
    How can I help? Pray that God spreads the Gospel to the blind and visually impaired through these printed materials. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.

    January 2021 LWML CID Mission Grant #5 – MOST Ministries Filters for Drinking Water – $5,000
    This grant will enable MOST Ministries to continue serving the poor by installing water filters in homes and churches throughout the world. In addition, MOST Ministries would reach each person served with the message of the Gospel through the use of witness materials, devotions, and simple Bible stories.
    How can I help? Pray that God provides “living water” and actual drinking water to those throughout the world who are in need. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    February 2021 LWML CID Mission Grant #6 – Bringing Christ’s Light with Lutheran Braille Workers in Peoria- $5,000
    This grant would enable the Lutheran Braille Workers to share the Good News found in Christ Jesus with people who are blind or visually impaired throughout the world. These funds will increase the production of Braille and specialized large print Christian materials and ensure every piece of material is sent to recipients free of charge. The funds will be used for paper, bindings, cardboard, and freight charges.
    How can I help? Pray that God provides the necessary materials and people to bring more of His blind or visually impaired children to faith. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    March 2021 LWML CID Mission Grant #7 – Soldiers of the Cross LCMS Mercy Program for Church Workers- $3,000
    Soldiers of the Cross is one of the LCMS mercy programs which helps church workers in financial or personal crisis. The funds will be used to help support church workers with a serious illness or are affected by a natural or man-made disaster. This transitional financial support is provided when no other avenue of support for such necessities as food, medicine, insurance, and shelter is available or limited.
    How can I help? Pray that God provides comfort and mercy to church workers during their crisis and always. Support this grant by donating to your church’s LWML society mite fund.
    April 2021 LWML CID Mission Grant #8 – Train Up a Child Teen Camp in Alaska – $5,750
    Kattivik Bible Camp is located near the Noatak River in Alaska. Over the course of three weeks in the summer, the Camp houses more than 80 middle and high school-aged children. The camp, under the leadership of the Lutheran Indian Ministries’ staff and ministry partners, provides a safe and healthy environment where these teens can work together and connect with their Creator.
