DECATUR Zone News

Lois Wenthe, a former LWML Decatur Zone President, (more than once) has moved from her home in Mt. Zion to South Carolina to be near her daughter. We will miss her greatly, but wish her continued blessings in her new location. She was a great help to me as well as previous zone presidents in anything we didn't understand or needed to get done.

"Friends in Faith" Spring Salad Supper was held in the Decatur Zone (which they have been doing for 19 years). Each of the congregations had a responsibility (Concordia made the programs & decorations, St. Paul was the host, Mt. Calvary arranged for the speaker, etc). It was a ladies event, but they invited the pastors to come. They had LWML mite boxes on each table. The speakers on May 23,2017 were from Baby Fold – they provide baby needs for those who are in need. People coming to the luncheon were encouraged to bring diapers and other baby items for Baby Fold.

The LWML Quincy Zone came together to hold a baby shower on Saturday, May 3rd at Our Redeemer in Quincy to benefit Madonna House and Care Net Pregnancy Services, both located in Quincy. All the women of the Quincy Zone LCMS churches were invited. The response to the ‘Gifts from the Heart’ was overwhelming as you can see by the picture…diapers, onesies, baby wash, lotion, wipes and more! Both organizations were thrilled by the generosity of the ladies. As you can see, also from the picture, we requested that the gifts not be wrapped! LOL!

A salad luncheon was served up with each LWML member attending providing a salad to share followed by a couple of baby shower games and an inspiring message from Laura Williams, Director of Care Net. The event finished up, of course, with cake and punch! Everyone had a great time and many compliments were received from the event! Definitely something we would do again in the future.
